I'm the Executive Director of Hacker's Creek Library. I try to go over to the library a couple times a week to check mail, the building, phone messages and do some computer work. I appreciate all the hard work our libarian Paula has done while working from home. These times really show that we need to have a great website for our organization. I have read so many of the old HCPD minutes and the Journals certainly a different time. They had to do a lot of foot work and travel to find genealogy/history information. It's amazing all the work these pioneers did without fancy phones and computers. They even wrote letters to courthouses and other hopeful connections for information ( usually enclosed a self-stamped addressed enveolpe for return info) Today we scan, take pictures with our phones and check the many free programs on our computers. These times should make us appreciate our technology. We order online, call the order by phone, talk to people by Zoom, etc., so we are still connected. The sad thing is so many can't work, but maybe they can become more creative and find a special calling instead of drowning in misery.
