Joseph Garibaldi Oles, a son of Loren K. and Lydia (Rice)

Oles, was born at Riceville PA August 17, 1861 and died in

Calhoun County WV November 4, 1930. He married Mabel Lestina

Scott at Athens, Crawford County PA August 25, 1887. Mabel, a

daughter of David Newman and Lestina M. (Carpenter) Scott, was

born at Athens PA May 8, 1868 and died in Calhoun County February

15, 1921.

The family came to Calhoun County in April 1903. Joseph was

a superintendent of a carbon black factory in Calhoun County and

was later owner and operator of "Acme", "Virginia Rhodes I",

"Virginia Rhodes II", "G.L. Cabot", "G.L. Cabot II" and "J.G.

Oles", gasoline powered boats that plied the Little Kanawha River

before 1930.

(Scott) Oles, was born at Ludlow PA December 19, 1890 and died in

Calhoun County WV of appendicitis July 13, 1916. He married Amy

Bell.

Lynn Scott Oles, a son of Joseph Garibaldi and Mabel Lestina

(Scott) Oles, was born February 22, 1896 at Ludlow PA and died

at Grantsville, WV July 7, 1964. He married Grace Lucretia Smith

in Calhoun County WV September 19, 1915. Grace, a daughter of

Joseph Miller and Charlotte (Slagle) Smith, was born at Butler PA

February 14, 1897 and died at Grantsville January 19, 1980.

1948. Willa, a daughter of Price and Stella Frances (Ross)

Jarvis, was born in Calhoun County October 29, 1918.
