1.SAMUEL SAMPLE

Samuel Sample was born about 1771 and died May 13, 1846. He married Jane -----, who was born about 1776 and died in August 1848. They are buried together in the Bald Hill M. P. Church cemetery at Bald Hill, Dunkard Township, Green County PA. Pennsylvania.

The 1820 Pennsylvania census records a Samuel Sample, engaged in Commerce, head of a family of eight people, including four males under the age of 10, one of whom could be George Washington Sample, although no record of any type has been found as proof.

Known child of Samuel and Jane Sample. (not proven)

2.GEORGE WASHINGTON SAMPLE 1.SAMUEL SAMPLE

George Washington Sample, who was probably a son of Samuel and Jane Sample, was born in PA in 1816 and died in Monongalia County WV in 1902. He married Malinda Stoneking about 1838. Malinda, a daughter of Adam Stoneking, was born in Dunkard Township, Greene County PA in 1814 and died in Monongalia County WV July 15, 1891.

George and Malinda are listed in the Monongalia County VA (WV) census of 1850. Their twin sons are 11 years old and born in VA, indicating the couple had lived in VA since 1839.

George bought 25 ¼ acres of land from Stephen Merrill and wife in Monongalia County.
