Morris Shanks was born in Georgetown MD in 1830 and died before

1900. He married Phoebe Jane Bower. Phoebe, a daughter of Jacob and

Elizabeth Jane (Fredrick) Bower, was born in Marion County VA December

16, 1838 and died in Monongalia County VA February 10, 1937.

Phoebe is listed as a widow in the 1880 and 1900 Calhoun County WV census.

Charles L. Shanks, a son of Morris and Phoebe Jane (Bower) Shanks, was born August 27, 1856 and died in Calhoun County WV February 3, 1938. He married Columbia R. Ferrell. Columbia, a daughter of Hiram and Matilda Jane (Rucker or Smith) Ferrell, was born in Calhoun County October 1, 1861 and died there August 3, 1943. They are buried in Big Bend Cemetery in Calhoun County.

Marshall November 29, 1883. James, a son of David Davis and Elizabeth

Jane (Lockridge) Marshall, was born in Calhoun County VA (WV) December

6, 1857.

Shanks, was born December 16, 1838 in Marion County Va and died February

10, 1937 in Monongalia County WV. She married Harvey Jennings Dobbins in

1897. Harvey, a son of Adam Guy and Vashti (Gainer) Dobbins, was born in

Calhoun County WV December 11, 1873 and died December 6, 1947.

Harvey married Maude Marshall. Maude, a daughter of Hamilton and

Mary (Shanks) Marshall, was born December 13, 1912.

Children of Harvey Jennings and Rosa Talmadge (Shanks) Dobbins.

Erie R. Shanks, a son of Charles L. and Columbia R. (Ferrell) Shanks, was born in Calhoun County WV May 21, 1890 and died in OH September 15, 1964. He married Mary E. Kreaps in Calhoun County December 23, 1915. Mary, a daughter of Almeda Alice Hall and an adopted daughter Dominick Augustus Kreaps, was born September 20, 1889 in Wirt County WV and died in Calhoun County Janaury 29, 1969.

Mary had married Ralph C. Wright in Wirt County September 3, 1905. Ralph, a son of Isaiah Zadock and Emaline Jenkins (Connolly) Wright, was born in Roane County WV about 1885.

Children of Ralph C. and Mary E. (Kreaps) Wright.
