Henry
Steinbeck, a son of Frederick and Sarah (Eckhart) Steinbeck,
was born in Hardy County VA February 4, 1801 and died in
Roane County WV
September 4, 1881. He married Julia Ann Capito. Julia, a
daughter of
Daniel D. and Nancy (Herderberg) Capito, was born in VA
October 26 1808
and died in Lewis County WV October 29, 1889.
The couple came
to Lewis County VA sometime around 1830. Henry was
appointed a Justice of the Peace in 146 and waqs electedf
to the office
in 1856 and 1860.

Steinbeck, a daughter of Henry D. and Julia Ann (Capito)
Steinbeck, was born in VA in 1828 and died in TX about
1868. She married
Enoch Thornton Withers in Lewis County VA November 12,
1846. Enoch, a
son of Alexander Scott and Melinda (Fisher) Withers, was
born in 1822
and died in Forest County TX in 1865.
Their first two
children were born in Lewis County VA (WV). The
others were born in Forest County TX. All but three of
the children kids
died of fever along with Sarah and Enoch. The surviving
children were
moved back to WV. In the 1870 Lewis County WV census, 13
year old Howard
Alfred Withers and 10 year old Enoch Scott Withers were
listed in the
household of their maternal grand father, Henry D.
Steinbeck.

August 3, 1906. He married Ellenorah M. "Ellen"
Gluck in Gilmer County
WV November 29, 1866. Ellen, a daughter of Christian and
Anna Catherine
(Erehart) Gluck, was born October 20, 1842 and died in
Wood County WV in
March 1922.
Daniel served
in the Union Militia as a Second Lieutenant in the 165
Militia Order.

Nagadoches County TX March 5, 1842. She was the widow of
Newell Walton
Crane, who died in the Civil War.
John served the
Confederacy in the Civil War in the Tarrant City
Rifles.

August 30, 1903. He married Tillie Bush in Bosqueville,

1869. Tillie was born in January 1853 and died in OH
November 11, 1916.
George served
the Union in the Civil War in Co B 15th W.Va.
Volunteer Infantry from September 1862 until after
October 1864. He was
wounded at Snicker's Gap in July 1864. He and Tillie
moved back to Lewis
County before 1880.

in CO September 28, 1925. She married Leonidas Frilby Law
August 19,
1868 in Lewis County. Leonidas, a son of Andrew and
Margaret (Waldeck)
Law, was born January 30, 1844 near Bone Creek, VA and
died in CO
January 30, 1923.
Leonidas served
the Union in the Civil War in Co A 6th W.Va.
Volunteer Cavalry in 1864 and 1865.
The family
moved to CO to homestead about 1871. They returned to WV
about 1877 and located in Ritchie County. They moved to
Roane County,
where Leonidas served as a Methodist minister. They
retired in 1904 and
moved to Boulder, CO.

his family to Canada in May 1908. Clara died in
childbirth there in 1919 and Charles moved his family
back to WV.
