John Turnbull was born in 1691. He married Helen Arbuckle November 5, 1727. Helen, a daughter of David and Helen (Scott) Arbuckle October 20, 1695.

4.JAMES TURNBULL 1. JOHN TURNBULL

James Turnbull, a son of John and Helen (Arbuckle) Turnbull, was born in 1732 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was christened January 4, 1733. He was conscripted into the British Army and sent to America the Revolutionary War. He was with the army when Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, VA. He married Susanna Shinneberger January 4, 1784. In 1797 he went to Straight Creek near Monterey, VA.

James married Elizabeth Colan August 13, 1818. Elizabeth died in 1824.

Note that James’children used the “Trimble” surname.
